Senior Human Factors Research Specialist and System Safety Specialist
Jessica is a senior human factors research specialist and system safety specialist at the MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare. Jessica’s research focuses on understanding the human dimension and employing various human factors research methodologies in order to provide effective, efficient, and safe solutions. Current projects include studying the impact of health information technology (HIT), specifically electronic health records (EHR), on clinician performance to inform usability policy, and also examining the effects of health information technology on patient safety. Jessica has also led a number of patient safety initiatives examining various aspects of the healthcare system and provided systems solutions to impact change. She received her Master of Arts in human factors and applied cognition from George Mason University. Previously, she worked as a research psychologist at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
