Ella applies her nursing and health systems expertise to the Center’s research and consulting projects while expanding our healthcare environments research and design portfolio. Her research expertise is in the application of both design and technological solutions to enhance patient and staff safety, optimal healing, and efficient system performance. Ella serves on the National Facility Guideline’s Healthcare Guidelines Review Committee and speaks nationally and internationally on the influence of care environments on health system outcomes. She received her master’s in nursing/ healthcare quality & safety from George Washington University and her bachelor’s in nursing from Georgetown University. She also holds a clinical research certificate from the National Institute of Nursing Research. In addition to working at the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare, Ella is an avid ornithologist who travels broadly in search of elusive species.
