Strategic Development Manager & Environmental Research and Design Specialist Akhila Iyer oversees program strategy and development initiatives at the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare, providing expertise on organizational growth and operations. In addition to this role, she leads projects applying environmental design to better provider and patient work, well-being, and safety. She has extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research in both lab and field settings. Akhila holds a bachelor’s in neuroscience and behavior from Barnard College of Columbia University, a master’s in medical science from the Boston University School of Medicine, and will earn her Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) later this year. In addition to working at the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare, Akhila enjoys listening to podcasts, cooking, and travel photography.
